The fight to get the maximum number of screens for Jilla and Veeram is continuing. And we have latest info on the scenario in the United States of America.

According to sources in the trade, Jilla will be showcased in 69 screens in the US while Veeram gets 67 screens. Both the movies are all set to premiere on January 9th, 2014 in the US and there is a mad rush among the movie buffs to catch the first show.

Jilla stars Ilayathalapathy Vijay in the lead role and Thala Ajith is the hero in Veeram. It has been years since fans got to see a head-on clash of these stars at the box office and it is now happening!

Venkat Prabhu directed Mankatha, Ajith’s landmark 50^th film which showed the star in a new dimension. His salt and pepper look and the total dark shade of character still remain the talk in cinema circles.
 

In a recent interview, the Mankatha director says that he is planning to make a film with both Ajith and Vijay in lead roles as both of them have expressed their affirmation to work with him. However the director has a small issue to be resolved. He states that both Ajith and Vijay want to do the role of the antagonist which is kind of putting him in a tight situation to conjure up a story accordingly.

Venkat Prabhu quips that he is working on such a script where there is equal scope for performance for both the actors and the moment he firms that side, he would immediately get their dates.

When a film like that happens, it sure is going to be the biggest day in Tamil cinema. Let’s hope and wait!

Vijay's introductory fight sequence in Jilla is being shot currently at Chengalpet, under the supervision of stunt master Silva. This realistic sequence would be shot over the next 3 or 4 days.

 

Meanwhile Mohanlal's final schedule for the film will begin in Pollachi, towards the end of this month on November 25. This schedule will again last for about 3 to 4 days. 

 

On the songs front, one number featuring Vijay and Kajal Agarwal will be shot in a Chennai set, in the first week of December. 

 

The shoots of Jilla, as you can read, are going on continuously at various places without any break for the crew. The film is getting ready for a Pongal 2014 release and some of the area rights have already been snapped up by prominent players in the market. 

Ilayathalapathy Vijay, who will be seen in AR Murugdoss' film 'Jilla', will not just act in it but will also lent his voice for a song.

 

"Vijay's nickname in the movie would be Jilla and he has a very street-smart and sarcastic character. The movie is mainly about the relationship between Vijay and Mohanlal and it would have all elements that fans generally expect out of a Vijay movie such as comedy, action and sentiments.

 

When I wrote the story, Mohanlal wasn't in my mind but it suddenly struck me that Mohanlal can indeed be part of this script. Vijay also liked my suggestion and asked me to approach the actor. Lal liked my script narration and his role has turned out in a very realistic manner. 

 

Vijay's character would be something new, when compared to his last 4 or 5 films and we have come out with an agreeable film on the whole"

 

Composer Imman had tweeted long back that they were making all efforts to make Vijay sing a song in Jilla and now he has come out officially and updated on his Twitter space that Vijay has recorded a lovely melody track with the queen among singers, Shreya Ghoshal. 

 

"#Jilla Its official guys!! Recorded Vijay Annan for an ethnic melodious number with shreya ghoshal..Lyric by Vairamuthu sir..Praise God!"

 

With Vairamuthu's masterly lyrics and with two highly popular singers on-board, this song has all the credentials to be the best song on Jilla's album already. 

Kajal Agarwal continues to be a shining star down South and she has stormed the hearts of many youngsters thanks to her naughty charm and perfect figure. Up next for her in Tamil would be All in All Azhaguraja and Jilla, in which she is paired with the likes of Karthi and Vijay. This would be her second outing with these popular heroes. 

In AAA, she would be called Chitra Devi Priya and she has had a ball on the sets and literally used to die laughing on the sets everyday. She understood all the Tamil dialogues written by Director Rajesh in order to fully appreciate the comedy and feels that Santhanam and Karthi are equally crazy.

She feels Karthi has mastered his craft as an actor and thanks to their bonding in Naan Mahaan Alla back in 2010, their vibes in AAA were that much livelier. She is inspired by Karthi's quest for perfection while performing for his shots. 

In Jilla, she would be having an action-oriented role and is excited about reuniting with Vijay again after the blockbuster Thuppakki in 2012. The unit still has some portions left to shoot and they might visit Slovenia or Bulgaria to can a few songs.

The Jilla team happens to be a very active team these days. The shoot for the movie has been happening day and night across multiple locations. The team has currently landed in Hyderabad where rigorous shooting is under process. The Hyderabad schedule will last until October 15^thafter which the team will fly to Bulgaria and other locales to film a few other portions of the movie.
 

It was earlier reported that Jilla is fixed for a Pongal release. However, according to a latest update, a Pongal release is still a speculation. An official confirmation will come out by the mid of November.
 

Jilla has hit makers such as Vijay and Mohanlal in the lead cast. Kajal Agarwal will be the leading lady who will play opposite Vijay. It is said that both Vijay and Kajal play police officers in the film and Mohanlal is apparently playing the role of Vijay’s godfather.

'Kaviperarasu' Vairamuthu is set to pen the lyrics for one of the songs in Vijay's Jilla, which has Imman taking charge of the music. Neason directs this commercial entertainer based around Madurai and the likes of Mohanlal, Kajal Agarwal, Ravi Mariya, Vidyulekha Raman and Soori complete a very strong support cast list.

 

Jilla has been filmed in places such as Madurai, Chennai and Hyderabad till now and the movie is set for release in the early part of 2014.

 

There are reports suggesting that Vijay is playing the role of a cop in the movie and even Kajal might be donning the police 'khaki'. But, we have to wait for the movie to release, to get a firm answer to such speculations.

Vijay TV has planned to show AR Murugadoss’ blockbuster film, Thuppakki. Whereas Sun TV and Kalaingnar TV will broadcast Siddique’s Kaavalan starring Vijay and Asin and Dharani’s Kuruvi starring Trisha respectively. Jaya TV on the other hand will show Velayudham, directed by Jayam Raja.

The Vijay - Mohanlal starrer, Jilla is one of the most talked about movies at the moment. Neason, the director of the movie is apparently having a good time, shooting with both the great stars. The director shared his happiness about working with the two of them in a recent interview.
 

"I have always watched Mohanlal's films during my college days. When I narrated the script to Vijay, I mentioned that Lal would be apt for the film. Vijay too felt the same and so did the producer R.B Chowdary.
 

But after that, I got a bit scared. I did not know how I was going to handle both the great stars. However, during the shoot, both Vijay sir and Mohanlal sir got very close and cooperated with each other well. Lal waits when Vijay has a shot and vice versa.
 

This Vijay – Mohanlal team up will surely be as good as the Rajini – Mammootty pair in Thalapathy."
