Vijay’s Jilla received positive response from the audience and is doing great business at the box office. Rumor has it that the movie is likely to be remade in Telugu.

The latest addition to Jilla’s wish list is none other than Tollywood’s heartthrob Mahesh Babu. Yes, the Telugu actor has personally called director Nesan to wish him on Jilla’s success.

Also, the actor has expressed his interest in working with Nesan for a film. We all know that both Vijay and Mahesh Babu are good at rendering similar roles. If all goes well, we might see Mahesh Babu as Sakthi in the Telugu remake of Jilla.

Cyclones are generally named only after they are formed – some even remain unnamed because of their unanticipated arrival.Tamil Nadu was taken by storm with the release of a couple of typhoons that were probably named much before they were created, Jilla and Veeram. These windstorms were carefully nurtured and propelled out by directors Neason and Siva and had the two mass heroes Vijay and Ajith acting in them.

It is on rare occasions that two big muscled movies jostle their way into theater screens on the same day, and when they do, it is harvest time at the theaters. Coincidentally it has materialized right during the festival of harvest and the theaters happen to be exploding with over population.

Both Veeram and Jilla are reportedly doing very well in theaters and have broken records at many places as far as box office collections are concerned. The perks of such kinds of releases do not just limit themselves to box office collections – there can be a lot more to it. First of all, it lights up the enthusiasms of the fans, who would be exuberant about getting to watch their favorite hero on screen.

We had witnessed Ilayathalapathy Vijay express his gratitude towards his fans who woke up early in the morning at 4 AM and 5 AM to watch and celebrate the release of his movie – such is the response of the people for big releases, and when there are two big ones, the reverberation is doubled. Last Friday, 10th January, 2014, the celebrations for the two movies were at its organic peak and so were the sales of garlands and fire crackers.

However, the disappointing part of such massive celebrations is that, it might just disrupt the harmony within people. Fan fights are becoming very common these days and the so called Thala – Thalapathy fans rift has turned out to be a serious issue that demands a quick fix. Internet and social media platforms have been converted into virtual battle fields and it has become almost impossible to scroll through any social media page without spotting a random war meme.

Another little peril that is often left obscure is that smaller movies, especially the ones that are good, are either lamentably shown the exit doors of theaters or moved to smaller screens. Other producers, who have their movies ready for release, will have to put their release plans on hold as they might not get the number of screens that they intend to cover.

But with the increased number of movie releases in Tamil, producers and distributors are forced to adapt themselves to the current trend of looking to sweep away maximum collections in the opening weekend. However, if the releases of such big guns happen in two different dates, giving ample time for each other – a few smaller movies might just be allowed to run the extra mile.

Nevertheless this is something that can be sorted out easily. The absolute need of the hour is that fans celebrate cinema with harmony and not wage wars against each other.

We have witnessed Vijay wishing the Veeram team success and have also noticed other members of both Veeram and Jilla wish and support each other. The vibes among the people in the industry are always friendly and positive. Let’s work together at spreading those vibes among the fans too.

Clearly, the South Indian films dominated the international markets, ending the dominance of DHOOM-3 at No 1 position. Resultantly, DEDH ISHQIYA was overpowered in key markets for this reason ... Telugu film 1 NENOKKADINE has embarked on a glorious start at U.S.A. BO ... Telugu film YEVADU, which opened on Saturday in U.S.A., has fared very well [Sat + Sun] ... The two Tamil films, JILLAand VEERAM, have set the Malaysian BO on fire. Believe it or not, the *weekend business* of both the films *in Malaysia* is higher than the business of DHOOM-3 in Malaysia so far. In U.K., Australia and France too, VEERAM and JILLA have opened to a heartening response ... Punjabi film PATIALA DREAMZ has not been able to leave an impact ... Bengali film CHANDER PAHAR did quite well in U.S.A. It must be noted that Bengali films rarely find a theatrical release in U.S.A. and also, CHANDER PAHAR was released in limited screens/limited shows. Hence, the business could be termed encouraging ... Malayalam film DRISHYAM is faring well in U.K. ... THE LUNCHBOX is faring exceptionally well in France and Germany. The combined total *from these two markets alone* is over Rs 10.80 cr.

There’s some commonality between Mahesh Babu’s ’1′ and Vijay’s ‘Jilla”, which released Friday in cinemas. While both the films are in different languages, yet something has found a commonality in them. The common factor turns out to be the running of these two films, which are over three hours long.
With Ram Charan’s ‘Yevadu’ slated for release tomorrow, one wonders if it will also be as long as these films as lengthier running time seems to be the norm of star-studded. Even Ajith’s ‘Veeram’ was about two hours and 50 minutes long. Running time is not a problem for the audience if the the film’s story is really worth sitting so long for. For instance, Avatar was more than three hours long but people loved it because they were engrossed in the story so much.
‘Yevadu’ will have serious problem if it’s also as lengthy as ’1′ and ‘Jilla’. The makers of ’1′ and ‘Jilla’ have already trimmed their films by 19 minutes and 9 minutes, respectively due to the mixed response from the audience.

The Tamil Nadu release of Jilla is less than a day away and the excitement among Vijay's fans is steadily rising with every passing hour. The film has managed to get a very wide release in Tamil Nadu, along with Ajith's Veeram which is also releasing tomorrow. Here we give a split-up of Jilla's screen count from the various release circuits in TN.

Kovai - 65
Trichy (T.T) - 45
Madurai (M.R) - 40
North Arcot - 40
South Arcot - 40
Chengalpet - 70 to 75
Chennai City - 17 to 18
Salem - 52 to 55

With the addition of theaters in the T.K (Thirunelveli Kanyakumari) belt, the total number of screens for Jilla in TN will definitely be around 400.

In Kerala, Mohanlal said in a recent interview that he is looking at releasing Jilla in around 300 screens, which seems like a really huge number. Anyway, 200 plus screens in Kerala looks like a certainty for Jilla as both Vijay and obviously superstar Mohanlal are major crowd-pullers in the state.

In Karnataka, Jilla is looking at 50 to 55 screens, while the overseas markets will see close to 300 screens releasing Jilla. USA leads the way with 71 screens, UK with 45 screens, Malaysia with 40 screens, France with 23, Switzerland with 20, Denmark with 19 and so on.

The worldwide screen count of Jilla is upwards of 1000 and this counts as a really grand release indeed.

The fight to get the maximum number of screens for Jilla and Veeram is continuing. And we have latest info on the scenario in the United States of America.

According to sources in the trade, Jilla will be showcased in 69 screens in the US while Veeram gets 67 screens. Both the movies are all set to premiere on January 9th, 2014 in the US and there is a mad rush among the movie buffs to catch the first show.

Jilla stars Ilayathalapathy Vijay in the lead role and Thala Ajith is the hero in Veeram. It has been years since fans got to see a head-on clash of these stars at the box office and it is now happening!

The much anticipated trailer of Vijay starrer Jilla is out. The 1 minute 46 second trailer begins with an intro music, followed by the introductions of Vijay and Mohanlal.

While Vijay appears from the shadows, Mohanlal’s intro is more chromatic and royal. Welcoming the Malayalam star with Chenda Melam looks apt and adds to his majestic appearance.

The trailer promises lot of action and comedy. Vijay also seems to have contributed extensively to the humour and his delivering of Goundamani’s famous “I’m very happy” dialogue appears to have struck a chord with the fans. With Parotta Soori, Madhumitha and Vidyullekha Raman in the ensemble, Jilla appears to be a laughter ride.

On the other hand, Vijay has done some extraordinary stunts and the cinema hall for sure will resound with whistles and cheers.

On the whole, the trailer of Jilla promises a wholesome commercial entertainer and a sumptuous one at that, for this Pongal.

Jilla starring Tamil star Vijay is one of the most keenly awaited release of the upcoming Sankranthi season in Tamil. It’s getting a big release in Tamil despite having to face another biggie in the form of Ajith starrer Veeram. Yet the star doesn’t seem to mind as he has been prepared for it from some time. But it’s in the territories outside Tamil Nadu that the actor is facing situations that he hasn’t expected to and it’s here Mahesh Babu enters the scene.
Superstar Mahesh Babu has a big market not just in Andhra Pradesh but in Rest of India and Overseas as well. With the actor’s film also slated to release on the same day as Jilla, the latter is struggling to find decent number of screens in these places outside Tamil Nadu. For example in Karnataka and US, 1 Nenokkadine starring Mahesh Babu is getting big release whereas Jilla is finding it hard to get decent screens. Will Mahesh Babu with his 1 Nenokkadine end up spoiling the party of Jilla, we will know in few days’ time.
