Blood Money 2012 Hindi Film Review and Rating: 1/5

Banner: Vishesh Films
Starring: Kunal Khemu, Amrita Puri
Director: Vishal Mahadkar
Producers: Kunal Khemu, Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt
Chitriyala Rating: 1/5

Kunal Khemu who was last seen in ‘Golmaal 3’ that was way back. The actor who we loved as a child artist found it hard to find good offers even after making quite a promising debut in ‘Kalyug’. What’s next, he decides to produce a film himself. And who else could have been better than the Bhatt’s to back him. But producing a film is one thing and producing a good film is another. Wished the actor had played little attention to the content he was planning to show on screen.

Story:

Hansel and Gretal were fed by a witch until they got fit and healthy to be eaten by her. This story is what Aarzoo (Amrita Puri) narrated to her husband Kunal (Kunal Khemu) when they leave a middle class life in Mumbai to come to cape town to live a rich lifestyle. Kunal follows his dreams by working as a Diamond merchant in a big firm only to find out that there is a counter side to his company Trinity Diamonds. He keeps eyes close only to bury deeper under the guilt that he is doing wrong. Climax arrives when he decides to go against Trinity.

Analysis:

The only god part about the film is that it ends too soon to create any kind of impact on your mind. There is strictly nothing to boast about it. The moment you feel that there is going to be something interesting, mostly hoping post the interval, the film disappoints with clichéd scenes and dialogues that do not even look natural, but are made up.

Performances:

Kunal Khemu is good only in parts. He does not looks like a hero material in most films. In the climax, he tries to be someone like Salman who can take down 4 healthy goons despite being injured which is non-convincing. He can play the real ordinary man’s role well and that is what he should stick to. I really had good regards for Amrita Puri after ‘Aisha’ but she spoilt them for me in this film. What is wrong with her? Kunal and AMia ‘Showpeice’ Uyeda was a time waste. Kunal’s boss Zaveri as well as his brother overact.

Technicalities:

The one who fails the most is the director, as he could have helped to make the film a decent watch. Not that the story or the screenplay was good. The dialogues too were clichéd. The background score irritated and was dated and the average songs too could not sooth. Cinematography was okay too.

Plus points: Can’t think of any

Minus Points: Screenplay, dialogues, OTT performances

Final Word: Do not waste your time.
