The story starts with a flash back of the BOSS (Akshay Kumar) and his younger brother Shiv (Shiv Pandit) in a village in Haryana where they get into a fight with a rival gang. BOSS leaves the place to become an efficient Haryanvi gangster. In the meantime his younger brother Shiv falls in love with Ankita (Aditi Rao Hyadari) and also invites trouble in form of a gruesome cop Ayushman Mathur (Ronit Roy) who is ruthless over the innocent farmers here. So the BOSS has to return to rescue his brother and tarnish the sufferings over the innocent farmers by Ayushman.
Anthony D’ Souza who earlier directed ‘Blue’ starring Akshay Kumar has once again roped in the actor capitalising over his action image. The director however, doesn’t provide a new idea in the storyline rather it carries the same old masala theme but what he remains honest to is the characterisation of the artists and action sequences. Through a brilliant star cast including Akshay Kumar, Ronit Roy among others, director instills the screens with energy.

Somewhere you get a feeling that the Khiladi Kumar might just give a recap of his last year’s dud Khiladi 720 but it shouldn’t be mistaken with that. The director realises the difference between Zila Kanpur of UP and Haryana and presents a different Akki in form of BOSS.
However, in the mid the dialect vanishes before you know. What remains intact is the attitude of Akki and his bonding with Mithun Chakrabory playing his father and his younger brother for whom he takes iron with the bad cop.
And so here takes few intense action sequences between the two. Among them, the final hand to hand combat under the soaring temperatures is worth watching.
What could have been more admired are the dialogues which aren’t funny enough or serious. The script could have been more gripping and logic which takes a back seat could have carried more sense.
Performances here are more worthy as said before. Akshay Kumar is again great in his act. His regional approach is worth watching as he carries the attitude of the Jatt efficiently.
Ronit Roy takes his share of applause for delivering a ruthless cop. This is his second appearance as a cop after ‘Shootout at Wadala’ and he sombers every onscreen artists along with viewers with his act.
Shiv Pandit gives a good performance. Aditi Rao Hyadari comes as a breath of fresh air. She flaunts her figure whenever she gets space and share descent chemistry with Shiv.
Mithun Chakraborty is good. His emotional bonding with Akshay takes a note. Other actors namely Danny Denzongpa, Johnny Lever as Zorawar, Sanja Mishra, Mukesh Tiwari, Parikshit Sahni are equally fair.
The music is zealous. BOSS’ tilte track is my favourite. Honey Singh rap being one of the reason. Har Kisi ko nahi Milta song is good.
BOSS could be watched as it is a masala entertainer. But could have been much better.
