Asaduddin Owaisi surrenders, sent to jail

Sangareddy: MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi surrendered before the Medak court here on Monday, in connection with the case against him for abusing the then collector and the joint collector in 2005. He was remanded to judicial custody till February 4. Lawyers of the MP immediately filed a bail petition. However as the bail petition was posted to Tuesday, Asaduddin Owaisi was shifted to jail.

Police were preparing to arrest the MP as he had not honoured the summons of the court earlier. He has however appeared by himself on Monday to avoid arrest.

Both Asaduddin Owaisi and his brother Akbaruddin are facing the charges of abusing and obstructing the official duties of the district authorities, when they tried to demolish the compound wall of a place of worship for road widening at Muttangi under Patancheru mandal on April 16, 2005.

Akbaruddin Owaisi arrested and jailed in Adilabad for his hate speech, was already brought to Sangareddy and produced before the court in connection with the case.
