Story:
What is ”Welcome Obama” about?
Welcome Obama is the story of a surrogate child, Krishna. He is born for an American couple in the womb of an Indian mother, Yashoda (Urmila). Lucy, the American mother wants a perfect boy but discard him even before he is born as Yashoda fall down creating a delivery complexity. Later she delivers a beautiful and active boy and every one calls him Obama due to his white skin. Years later, Lucy gets to know about the boy and comes to India to take him. Yashoda develops a strong bond with him and refuses to send him back. But Lucy manages to acquire him legally. What happens next is the rest of the story.
How is the little boy?
The boy who acted as Krisha/Obama is a french and does not even know English. The only way to communicate with him is by his father who knows both French and English. Singeetham still managed to extract decent performance from him.

How is Singeetham’s direction?
The movie seem to be a old wine in a new bottle idea. The film reminds us old movies with concepts like ‘Penchina Thalli, Kanna Thalli’. But the concept of surrogacy is new to Telugu audience. It is interesting to see a old man thinking ahead. Coming in to the technicalities, the story moves with very slow pace. You almost feel like you are watching a documentary. There is a little comedy track in the movie which is also not effective.
What about the others ?
Urmila comes up with a very good performance. Rachel who recently appeared in Potugadu is decent. Sanjeev who acted as Yashoda’s brother in the movie is good as well. Writers Balabhadrapatruni Ramani, Bhuvanachandra, Anantha Sri Ram are not so effective as actors. Rest of them are okay.
How is Music, Songs and Dances & other departments?
Singeetham Srinivasa Rao himself took care of the music department. His mark is clearly visible on the songs with some well written lyrics and soothing music. They come as a relief to audience whenever they feel the movie is dragged. Camera work by SS Darshan is just okay. Editing is average. The movie is made on a shoe string budget but since it is mostly shot in the country side, the output is good. The CG work used to demonstrate Surrogacy is informative but of poor quality.

Drawbacks?
1. Slow Pace

What about its box office prospects?
The slow pace of the movie and no entertainment will dent the box office prospects of the movie. Sad but true, current generation may find it tough to sit down through out the movie. If you like sentimental movies, it is a must watch for you.
