The Tamil Nadu Government has lifted the ban issued on
Vishwaroopam under section 144 of the Cr. PC on Sunday, 3
rd
February 2013. The ban in Chennai was lifted by Police Commissioner, S
George and the Collectors revoked it in their respective districts.
Chief Minister J Jayalalitha in her last statement had said that the
ban on the film would be removed if Kamal and the protestors come to a
desirable agreement.
As per CM’s request, the two parties
met on Saturday and arrived at an amicable decision. To accommodate the
requests of the Muslim organizations, Kamal Haasan had also agreed to
mute few segments in the film, which is believed to have been done
immediately after the meeting.
Now that the Tamil Nadu
Thowheedh Jamaath members have also agreed to withdraw all the protests,
the film is likely to release this week. However, the police have
assured that protection will be provided if necessary.
The
release date of the film is expected to be officially announced today
and the theater owners have supposedly expressed their eagerness to
screen the film from this Friday.
