Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan’s fans were eagerly awaiting the release of Kochadaiyaan and Vishwaroopam 2, respectively, this year. But the latest info we have on these films is that it has postponed to next year.

The filmmakers of both these high budget films are reported to have said that since a lot of computer graphics is involved in the making, the decision to release the films next year has been made.

With this, several other films are gearing up to hit the screens in December, say trade sources.

Kamal Haasan faced roadblocks for trying to release Vishwaroopam on DTH. His film was not even taken for theatrical release because he attempted to release his film simultaneously on DTH. However, the actor-filmmaker is serious about releasing Vishwaroopam 2 via DTH, if not in India, then at least abroad.
Kamal said that DTH is only a medium to make audiences go watch a film in theatres as well after watching it on television. He added that all of have kitchens at home, and yet, we go and dine outside. Have we ever stopped ourselves from going to restaurants because we have kitchens? It is a powerful medium and we should use it effectively.
He reiterated that if his film is not allowed to be released via DTH in India, then he would release it in other countries on this platform. The film is nearing completion is slated to release soon.

Kamal Haasan’s magnum opus Vishwaroopam 2 is almost over with just some patch up shots left to shoot. Sources add within 2 days the entire shoot of Vishwaroopam 2 will be done, This gives way to the big question when is Vishwaroopam 2 releasing ?
Reports coming in suggest the movie might be released by the third week of November. Kamal Haasan is targetting a solo release between the 2 big releases of Thala Ajith’s Arrambam (Diwali release) and Superstar’s Kochadaiyaan (Rajnikanth Birthday release). Kamal Haasan also has plans to release the film along with the Hindi Version in order to get more screen count and thus ensure an even bigger opening for the movie.

The Legendary Kamal Haasan has played almost every single character in his conquest of Indian Cinema but the Ullaganayagan has himself regretted not bagging the much coveted role which was based and inspired on Dawood Ibrahim in D-Day.

Ullaganayagan apparently wanted to play the role of a gangster in Nikhil Advani’s D-Day which is now being played by Rishi Kapoor. A Source revealed that “Shruti Haasan, who plays a street walker(prostitute) in the film, had consulted her father on whether she should sign it. Interestingly, after reading the script Kamal wanted to play the role that is believed to be inspired from Dawood himself”.
Unfortunately Director Nikhil had to inform him that Rishi Kapoor was already signed to play the role.

The Producer of the movie Monisha Advani however states that “Rishi Kapoor was always the first choice for Goldman’s character. But Kamal Haasan remarked how he would have liked to do the film. His appreciation encouraged Nikhil and the entire team to put in their best.” D-Day will be hitting the screens in another 2 days.

Kamal has become a business man as he knows how to market a product and make big money, just by creating opposition for his movie.

Kamal is now almost ready with his part II of Vishwaroopam and the first look says, even his second part of the most troubled and highly earned movie, will also carry with it the troubles and problems.

Kamal is expecting to use it as an marketing strategy.

The movie will run only 120 minutes while the part I was 150 minutes long.

Vishwaroopam/Vishwaroop, the Rs 95 crore spy thriller, produced and directed by Kamal Haasan has crossed the 100 crore mark in India. The film has supposedly made a humongous Rs 120 crores in the Indian box office. This is reportedly the third Tamil film after Sivaji and Enthiran to achieve this massive feat at the BO.

The news was also confirmed by actor Rahul Bose recently through his twitter post. The film is also scoring big time at the USA and UK BO. According to trade pundits, the film (Tamil and Telugu) at the end of the third week in UK and USA (in reported theaters), has raked massive Rs 2.33 crores and Rs 6.41 crores respectively.

Meanwhile, Kamal has tentatively named the sequel as ‘Moo’. He will begin the pre-production process for the film in a month’s time. He might also be roping in a couple of Hollywood stars for the sequel.

Kamal Haasan had numerous press interactions during the time, his Vishwaroopam was mired in release troubles. One such interview seemed to have really affected Telugu superstar ‘Prince’ Mahesh Babu. He said that he was in tears watching an interview of Kamal on TV as he felt it was very unfortunate that his movie was embedded in so many issues related to its release.

Kamal is one of Mahesh’s favorite actors it seems and the actor is praying for the commercial success of the Tamil version of Vishwaroopam which is set for release on coming Thursday, February 7th.

The Tamil Nadu Government has lifted the ban issued on Vishwaroopam under section 144 of the Cr. PC on Sunday, 3rd February 2013. The ban in Chennai was lifted by Police Commissioner, S George and the Collectors revoked it in their respective districts.

Chief Minister J Jayalalitha in her last statement had said that the ban on the film would be removed if Kamal and the protestors come to a desirable agreement.

As per CM’s request, the two parties met on Saturday and arrived at an amicable decision. To accommodate the requests of the Muslim organizations, Kamal Haasan had also agreed to mute few segments in the film, which is believed to have been done immediately after the meeting.

Now that the Tamil Nadu Thowheedh Jamaath members have also agreed to withdraw all the protests, the film is likely to release this week. However, the police have assured that protection will be provided if necessary.

The release date of the film is expected to be officially announced today and the theater owners have supposedly expressed their eagerness to screen the film from this Friday.

The ban on the release of Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam has been set aside by the Madras High Court. The interim order has turned out to be in favor of Kamal Haasan and the Madras High Court has put the Tamil Nadu government’s ban in abeyance. The High Court has also said that the film can be released tomorrow but the order is expected to be challenged by the government tomorrow. The government additional advocate general had actually wanted the ban to be extended till 10 30 am tomorrow but the judge refused

The Tamil Nadu government is planning for a re-appeal tomorrow first thing in the morning and theater owners may have to wait for the go-ahead from the government before deciding on playing Vishwaroopam in theaters.

So, the legal battle might still continue.

Bangalore: Kamal Haasan`s controversial film ‘Vishwaroopam’ was finally released today in Karnataka after the state police gave an assurance of providing adequate security for the multi-lingual film.

‘Vishwaroopam’ has been released in 40 theatres across the state, including 17 in Bangalore from the matinee show today. All 17 theatres screening the film are already going housefull," sole distributor of the film in Karnataka, H D Gangaraju told reporters.

He said the state police had assured it would provide security for peaceful screening of the film.

"Acceding to the request of a delegation of Muslim leaders who met City Police Commissioner Jyothiprakash Mirji and appealed that a line stating `all Muslims are not terrorists` be inserted in the film, I have decided to insert the line in the credits as it cannot be inserted in the film since it is a digital production," Gangaraju said.

Mirji who viewed the film on Jan 27, the day it was to be released in Karnataka, felt there was nothing objectionable in it, Gangaraju claimed.

The film, facing a two week-ban in Tamil Nadu due to its alleged anti-Muslim content, hit screens worldwide on Jan 25 but its release was deferred in Karnataka following a police suggestion in view of ‘Milad-un-Nabi’ and Republic Day and later in the wake of a group clash in Bhadravathi on Jan 26 over screening of the film.

Story :

Viswaroopam Movie begins with Nirupama (Pooja Kumar) explaining to a doctor about her husband Vishwanath (Kamal Hassan), a classical dancer and reveals that she doesn't have any feelings towards him. As Nirupama fall for her boss Deepak, she hires a private detective to check whether Vishwanath is having any kind of affair like her or not. Very soon Nirupama gets into trouble where she comes to know about the dark side of Deepak and the terrific side of her husband Vishwanath. What is the trouble? what is the other side of Vishwanath ? All these elements form the rest of the story.

Analysis :

Viswaroopam movie starts off on a slow note establishing Kamal Hassan as a classical dancer who doesn't have masculine qualities. In spite of being a multi-layered story, Kamal Hassan as a director took no time to reveal the real identity of the hero. The scene where Kamal Hassan's real identity reveals, was shot extremely well. Entire movie rested on the shoulders of Kamal Hassan and his character has appeared in almost every scene. Pre-interval action episode is one of the major asset for the film. Kamal Hassan didn't gave any space for entertainment but a few dialogues between Vishwanath and Nirupama will bring smiles to the audience.

Teluguone Analysis
:

Firstly Kamal Hassan must be appreciated for his sincere effort, as always. The way he narrated the movie is completely brilliant and the technical aspect like cinematography and action sequences are well executed. Tittle song is good and it looked much effective at the time of first fight. Entire theater was filled with claps and whistles for this sequence, as everyone liked to see Kamal Hassan as an action hero rather a classical dancer.

Kamal Hassan tried to show some sensible elements especially in the Afghanistan episode. Scenes between Omar's (Rahul) interaction with his family and his guilt after knowing that he has lost his family are touching. Vishwaroopam doesn't have a huge star cast but every one has done their job well. It was good to see the famous director Shekar Kapur on big screen. Viswaroopam might not go well with the masses but this film has been made with highly technical values and will remain as one of the better film of Legendary Actor Kamal Hassan.

Performances :

What all can we say about Kamal Hassan, who is very much passionate towards the cinema and who always try to experiment in every aspect. Once again Kamal Hassan has delivered a realistic and a classy performance and it will be delight for the audience to watch an actor like him on the big screen. Pooja Kumar and Andrea Jeremiah were OK. Shekhar Kapur did a decent job and Bollywood actor Rahul Bose is good as a baddie. His dubbing could have been much better. Jaideep Ahlawat, Nassar and Zarina Wahab have done their job.

Technicalities :

Cinematography by Sanu Varghese has been top class and is one of the major assets for Vishwaroopam. Music and BGM by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy was good. Editing by Mahesh Narayanan was perfect. Kamal Hassan has come up with a nice story and the way he executed the film in terms of technical aspects is appreciated.

Positives

Kamal Hassan
Cinematography

Negatives

Dead Slow Sometimes
Songs
Lack of entertainment

Final Word : Viswaroopam movie is recommended for action film lovers and the rest can watch for Kamal Hassan.

The response for Vishwaroopam in the advance booking counters across the theaters in Chennai city has been fabulous to say the least. All the shows for the first weekend have been sold out. Even early morning shows between 6 am and 9 am are much in demand. We have to see if theaters screen shows as early as 4 am and 5 am. Some theaters are also expected to screen shows on 24th night towards midnight.

Kamal Haasan and all the various areas’ distributors and exhibitors must indeed be a happy lot seeing the initial response. Given the extra-ordinary hype and expectations for the movie, if the movie lives up to Kamal’s own lofty standards, then a long run at the box-office can be expected.
