Chennai: A
man who made abusive and threatening phone calls anonymously for a
month to entrepreneur daughter of M. Venkaiah Naidu, senior BJP leader,
was arrested on Saturday and put in Puzhal prison.
Receiving
a complaint from the Rajya Sabha member and former Union Minister’s
daughter, Deepa Venkat, who runs Vishnu Motors, a Hero Honda showroom
near Kasi theatre, Commissioner S. George formed a special cyber crime
team under the supervision of Additional Commissioner R.S. Nallasivam
and Deputy Commissioner R. Siva Kumar, who nabbed the accused, K. Ramesh
Kumar, 31, of Red Hills.
Police said that Ramesh,
son of a retired MTC checking inspector, and employed with a private
concern, had made amorous advances towards Janani when he was in
college in Avadi.
Her complaint led to his arrest
then too. After coming out of prison, he allegedly received threatening
calls from Janani’s friends and relatives. To avenge this, he had made
calls to Deepa, the woman entrepreneur, suspecting that they were both
working in the same showroom.
“Ramesh Kumar used
a SIM card belonging to a Suvitha Krishnan of Mallamaneewarar Street,
Thirumullaivoyal, for making the hoax calls. The owner had lost the SIM
card about a year ago.” The police traced Ramesh Kumar in Ambattur.
