Filmmaker Indra Kumar, who helmed the 2004 comedy ‘Masti’ is now back with the sequel titled Grand Masti. Starring Vivek Oberoi, Ritesh Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani along with six new leading ladies, the sex comedy has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:
Amar (Retiesh Deshmukh), Meet (Vivek Oberoi) and Prem (Aftab Shivdasani)lead a regular boring family life with their wives. Their sexual lives are quite cold and always forces them to find some other alternative outside their houses.
One fine day, the three best friends are called for a college reunion. On landing in the college, they meet Marlo (Kainaat Arora), Rose (Maryam Zakaria) and Mary (Bruna Abdullah), the three rich sex sirens of the college.
Amar, Meet and Prem get easily attracted towards the beauties, but get shock of their lives when they are accidentally stuck in someone’s sudden death. Rest of the story is as to how the three best friends will get out of the ruckus that they have created themselves.
Positive Points:
If you are the one who easily enjoys double meaning dialogues and adult comedies, then Grand Masti will be a decent outing for you. Indra Kumar has gone a step ahead with this one and made it a point to incorporate some of the boldest double meaning jokes ever in Indian cinema.
Speaking of performances, Ritesh Deshmukh takes the crown with his super funny expressions and amazing dialogue delivery. Coming to the ladies, Sunali Kulkarni and Manjari Phadnis are apt in their characters.
Karishma Tanna portrays Genelia D’Souza’s character from the prequel with perfection. Pradeep Rawat, who plays the college principal, is amazing in a comedy jaunt. Even after all the vulgarity induced in the scenes, the amusing dialogues and expressions will keep you glued to your seats.
Negative Points:
As it is pretty obvious from the trailers of the film, Grand Masti is not a movie which you can enjoy with your family. The makers have focused more on the comic and vulgarity department than on the story. While the story of the film is kept similar to the prequel, it doesn’t make any sense at some points.
Vivek Oberoi is a disappointment in the film, as he overdoes his role a little too much. Kainaat Arora, Marayam Zakaria and Bruna Abdullah show off their skin a little too much. Their performance is plain erotic throughout the movie.
Technical Points:
The music album of the film by Anand Raj Anand is not that great. The songs fall apt in the screenplay but fail to create a lasting impact. Cinematography and editing is upto the mark. The background score is comical and goes with the theme of the movie.
Screenplay has nothing new and is similar to Masti. One has to praise Indra Kumar’s guts to make a movie filled with such vulgar and overdone jokes that have never been showcased in Hindi films.
Verdict:
On the whole, Grand Masti is a double dose of adult comedy, which is something new for Indian audience. Some of the humor will make you fall of your seats, but at the same time, its vulgarity might put you off sometimes. The family crowds can safely stay from this one but the younger generation, especially the college going kids will love the film.

Movie Rating: 3/5
