Jebin(Ashok Selvan) is a wannabe novel writer and the film starts with the funeral of his father(Nassar) who was a wealthy business man and also an excellent painting artist. Jebin lost his entire father’s wealth in business except a Villa which at Pondichery. Jebin’s father didn't divulge the information about the Villa to his son until his death and he never want his son to know about the Villa.When Aarthi(Sanchita Shetty) ,Jebin’s lover who was also a painting student comes to know this news she is all happy and Jebin nods to check out the Villa. What happens next and the hidden secrets of the Villa forms the crux of the story which is left for you to see in big screen…
First of all Deppan Chakravarthy must be appreciated for his excellent script work. The film is perfectly scripted from the beginning till the end which is the major plus for a thriller movie. Deepan Chakravarthy cleverly develops the faith inside the audience with initial scenes which tells us about positive energy, negative energy which right kind of scientific explanations which gives authentic feel to the film.
Especially the scene where Ashok Selvan discuss about the strange coincidence of his father’s painting to his real life with Sivanesan(A research scholar) in the film is a perfect example for the director’s research work. Another interesting thing about the movie is the twists which are cleverly presented , especially the interval sequence and the climax SJ Surya cameo are unexpected.
Ashok Selvan has done a brilliant job, he has given a matured subtle performance as a writer. The dialogue delivery and expressions are also good, the actor will definitely go places if he choose good films. Sanchita Shetty has given a adequate performance so as the other star casts.
Technically the film is brilliant, especially VFX work in the interval and climax portions are top notch and team has proven that even with limited budget they can bring the quality which is very rare even with big starrer films. The Virtual representation of dead persons in the pre climax portion is also another example for the technical brilliance .Santhosh Narayan’s music adds the thrill factor and he also maintained the scenes which demands silence.
Cinematography by Deepak Kumar Pathy is another major highlight, other than beautiful frames the cinematography angles and color tone fits the film’s genre perfectly. For a thriller film Cinematography and music are more important than the lead pair and in that case Pizza2 is a winner.
The movie is good as an individual film but as the Pizza2 the Villa comes as Pizza franchise one can’t stop comparing the film with the first part. When comparing to Pizza 1 this one lacks the thrill tempo which was perfectly placed by Karthik Subbaraj .
Overall Pizza2,the villa is a perfectly scripted , well researched decent thriller. Go and watch this new age movie which is definitely entertaining.
