Gone are the days when you made the film and released it in time and left the remaining things in the hand of the audience and let the word of mouth of the film run it? Times have changed budgets of the films have increased and therefore today promotions for films have become an important part and parcel of the run of the film. Films need to be aggressively promoted for the audience to show up as soon as possible because of the huge budgets involved and also because they have many other sources of entertainment to look forward to.
Sometimes the budgets are so high that even with a hit tag films ends of being a losing venture, case in point being the Jr NTR starrer Baadshah, released for summer last year. Imagine if a film flops under these circumstances? The losses incurred could be huge which is why promotion of a film has become a key thing. But do our stars take this seriously, one doubt it looking at the way things are done in Telugu film industry.
Among the big films recently there has been a big flop like Ramayya Vastavayya and Jr NTR was nowhere to be seen post the release of the film. It was director Harish Shankar who tried his best to salvage the situation. It was the same with Iddarammayilatho earlier in the summer. Sometimes the stars of these films would be bang in the middle of a vacation somewhere post the release of the film, maybe it’s a hint about the fate of the film, which we fail to grasp. Whatever it is many stars just don’t promote a film once it flops.
This is where Mahesh Babu has shown the difference once again. The star is known to promote his films irrespective of the fate of the film. He attends press meets, gives interviews and publicizes the film as much as possible even if it’s not going the way he has planned at the box office. One can see the actor promoting Khaleja as well as Dookudu. He promotes a Businessman and now a 1 Nenokkadine in the same vein. May be this is the reason why the film finds its audience in one place or the other. For example 1 Nenokkadine has found audience in US. Imagine if the actor had completely ignored the film after day 1 itself. People too would have shown little interest in the movie.
At the end of the day it’s all about recovering the money for the producers and if star sit at home, whom is to be blamed for loses, isn’t it the responsibility of the hero. Today we see even for a hit film like Yevadu the makers had to conduct success tours etc to bring the crowds in along with the actor’s interviews being all over the place. In such times wouldn’t a producer wish to have a star like Mahesh Babu besides him? Mere promotions may not change the fate of the film but a crore less loss is a crore less in final terms, isn’t it. So how many agree with our views on promotion, share us your thoughts?

Galla Jayadev, son of Minister of mines, Galla Arunakumari has made his intentions clear about contesting from Guntur constituency for Parliament in the upcoming elections. He plans to join the Telugu Desam Party to contest the elections. When asked about the different party chosen, the Managing Director of Amara Raja Batteries said that this is nothing new there are many precedence’s in the past where different members of a family have joined different parties.
Galla Jayadev also in this announcement mentioned that his relative and film star Mahesh Babu would campaign for him in the upcoming elections. However he clarified that the campaigning would be keeping the individual, here a relative, in mind and not because of political affiliation towards a party or showing support to a party. Mahesh Babu has been one actor who has stayed away from politics so far, let’s see what the star campaigner brings to the table for Galla Jayadev.

Originally, superstar Mahesh Babu-starrer Telugu thriller ’1 Nenokkadine’ was more than three hours long. Two days after its release the makers cut short the film by good 20 minutes following the unanimous feedback of the audience. While the film may have opened to mixed ratings, but director Sukumar has now decided to further shorten it and send it to film festivals.
He said that since the film has been raved by the critics, he plans to send it to several upcoming film festivals. He added that he plans to make it much shorter by removing all the songs. Despite its average run at the box-office, the film has rated phenomenally high on IMDB. It has even surpassed Hollywood films such as Inception and many such blockbusters.
Is ’1 Nenokkadine’ turning out to be the most underrated Telugu film ever? It certainly does look like that and its the audience who have to be blamed for not appreciating a film that went against the grain.

This Sankranthi have seen two big releases, 1-Nenokkadine and Yevadu. While 1-Nenokkadine staggered at the box office with negative talk, Yevadu managed to cruise off even with average talk. But frankly both the movies were heavily benefited from the Sankranthi festival advantage. Now that Sankranthi holidays are complete. Most of the schools are open from today and working people who are on extended holiday by adding Weekend are back to work.
The real test for both the movies begin today. The morning shows and matinees are bound to record a drop in collections.Their performance at the box office will be tested during the first working day after their release and it will decide the range of the film. The extent of loss for 1-Nenokkadine and the range of success of Yevadu will be decided by this end of the day. Hope both these films do well and bring good money to all those who are involved in the trade.

Right from the premiere s, Mahesh babu starrer  1-Nenokkadine has gained Negative and it effected the movie hugely during first 3 days collections. Somehow the movie is gaining some momentum and the movie seems to be running fine from the fourth day. At the end of the 4th day a kind of positive buzz has been circulating. Few Tollywood celebrities commenting positively on 1-Nenokkadine has started working in favour of the movie. Even in US off-late crowd is coming to theaters, as parts of US has been recovering from snowfall. All these signs giving an impression that  the movie is now working as a slow poison. However, As per the trade Analysts,  in-spite of getting all the required good buzz we can’t expect sudden increase of collections as first few days has been already lost.
Kriti Sanon played the female lead role in the movie, Sukumar is the director and the movie is produced under 14 Reels entertainment.
1-Nenokkadine slowely gaining momentum, 4.2 out of 5 based on 89 ratings

Vijay’s Jilla received positive response from the audience and is doing great business at the box office. Rumor has it that the movie is likely to be remade in Telugu.

The latest addition to Jilla’s wish list is none other than Tollywood’s heartthrob Mahesh Babu. Yes, the Telugu actor has personally called director Nesan to wish him on Jilla’s success.

Also, the actor has expressed his interest in working with Nesan for a film. We all know that both Vijay and Mahesh Babu are good at rendering similar roles. If all goes well, we might see Mahesh Babu as Sakthi in the Telugu remake of Jilla.

The success or failure of a film depends on so many factors, which includes good story, star cast, direction, technical stuff so on and so forth. But talking of South Indian film Industry especially Tollywood heroes play the pivotal part and most of the times the film runs only because of a particular hero being a part of it regardless of how good the script is.

And this sometimes makes many of us wonder if the audience’ sensibilities have ever changed or have they actually matured that no filmmaker can take them for granted.

The recent releases Yevadu and One Nenokkadine have in fact made us stare at this question. Ram Charan’s Yevadu clearly seems to have drawn inspiration from the Hollywood flick Face Off, which is actually been rated below average by film critics but the film has already celebrated the grand success and the theaters are running houseful here in Andhra!

While Mahesh Babu’s One Nenokkadine is a psychological thriller with amazing performances, technical brilliance and fantastic direction, and it surprisingly has not got such a blistering start. Although celebrities and film analysts have rated One Nenokkadine as Mahesh’s best performance so far!

Sad but true; the general public can be easily satiated with any masala flick, a little of action, song and dance, exposure, glamour, few punchy dialogues and of course mindless toilet humor even if it does not fit into the script will go on to become a blockbuster. The audience still has a long way to go in accepting this transitional phase in the industry. And if this change at the audience’s end fails to process further in the near future then get set to be fed with some more gibberish!

The verdict is out and it’s loud and clear that Ram Charan starrer Yevadu has won the box office battle over his rival Mahesh Babu’s 1 Nenokkadine. Unlike the last time they clashed at the box office the difference is going to be huge at the box office making Ram Charan the clear winner if one goes by the trade verdict. But, what about the public perception and critical measure among the two and who emerges as winner?
Well, when it comes to the public perception and critical appreciation it has been Mahesh Babu all the way despite losing the box office battle. Mahesh Babu has been appreciated for taking up a challenging role once again and giving a good performance. There are few scenes in the movie which the critics feel would be remembered as the best in the career of the actor. So despite the lack of box office and failure of Mahesh Babu as a star, the actor in him is still winning him the laurels.
On the other hand Charan despite scoring, what could be a massive hit is still failing to get this critical appreciation and public perception on him as an actor hasn’t changed one bit at all. Ram Charan is seen to be still at the pre Racha days as an actor with zero improvement at all. It’s the movies on the whole which are engaging the masses due to their screenplay or some other strong factors that is making them hits, feel the critics. Ram Charan is seen so low in acting radar that quite a few people felt that Allu Arjun in his two minutes appearance was far better as an actor than Charan in the whole move.
Ultimately every star wants to see the box office glory but at what cost is the real question. Can a star be completely ridiculed as an actor and still feel happy for his box office success? This is a complex paradox which only time can give an answer in entirety but as things stand today while one is walking away with box office glory other is winning the hearts even in failure. So which one among the two paths would you love your favourite star to be part off? Share us your thoughts.

Clearly, the South Indian films dominated the international markets, ending the dominance of DHOOM-3 at No 1 position. Resultantly, DEDH ISHQIYA was overpowered in key markets for this reason ... Telugu film 1 NENOKKADINE has embarked on a glorious start at U.S.A. BO ... Telugu film YEVADU, which opened on Saturday in U.S.A., has fared very well [Sat + Sun] ... The two Tamil films, JILLAand VEERAM, have set the Malaysian BO on fire. Believe it or not, the *weekend business* of both the films *in Malaysia* is higher than the business of DHOOM-3 in Malaysia so far. In U.K., Australia and France too, VEERAM and JILLA have opened to a heartening response ... Punjabi film PATIALA DREAMZ has not been able to leave an impact ... Bengali film CHANDER PAHAR did quite well in U.S.A. It must be noted that Bengali films rarely find a theatrical release in U.S.A. and also, CHANDER PAHAR was released in limited screens/limited shows. Hence, the business could be termed encouraging ... Malayalam film DRISHYAM is faring well in U.K. ... THE LUNCHBOX is faring exceptionally well in France and Germany. The combined total *from these two markets alone* is over Rs 10.80 cr.

Mahesh Babu has shown a new stamina in USA. His new film '1-Nenokkadine', though declared as a failed product in India, the potentiality and fan following of Mahesh Babu brought big collection.
The film collected more than US$ 1 Million in 4 days (including premiere shows). This happens to be one of the fastest huge collections of a Telugu film in USA.
Apart from that the film stood in top-5 list of Telugu films in USA so far with respect to collections.
Thus, despite negative talk Mahesh Babu proved his caliber by making hugest collection. Had it received the hit talk, the film would have broken all the records set so far, say analysts.

There’s some commonality between Mahesh Babu’s ’1′ and Vijay’s ‘Jilla”, which released Friday in cinemas. While both the films are in different languages, yet something has found a commonality in them. The common factor turns out to be the running of these two films, which are over three hours long.
With Ram Charan’s ‘Yevadu’ slated for release tomorrow, one wonders if it will also be as long as these films as lengthier running time seems to be the norm of star-studded. Even Ajith’s ‘Veeram’ was about two hours and 50 minutes long. Running time is not a problem for the audience if the the film’s story is really worth sitting so long for. For instance, Avatar was more than three hours long but people loved it because they were engrossed in the story so much.
‘Yevadu’ will have serious problem if it’s also as lengthy as ’1′ and ‘Jilla’. The makers of ’1′ and ‘Jilla’ have already trimmed their films by 19 minutes and 9 minutes, respectively due to the mixed response from the audience.
