Tamil cinema is back with another comedy entertainer and this time it believes on Sivakarthikeyan who is back with a super hit Ethir Neechal. Does Varudhapadatha Valibar Sangam (VVS)continues Siva’s winning streak? Read on to know….
Varudhapadatha Vailbar Sangam is all about the Village head Sivanandi (Sathyaraj) for whom family prestige is more important and when Police came to know a news that he Killed his own daughter Latha Pandi(Sri Divya) and Bose Pandi(Sivakarthikeyan) their investigation forms the crux of the story.
The film’s biggest strength is Sathyraj without him the film would have been a boring watch. The first fifteen minutes and the last fifteen minutes of the movie is undoubtedly entertaining, thanks to Sathyaraj’s characterization and his majestic performance.
Sathyaraj has given a serious start to the movie by accepting the fact that he killed his own daughter and ends the movie with his trademark hilarious comedy timing. Watch out for the climax as it is hilarious and gives a comic relief, we don’t want to break the suspense.
The remaining two hours is all about Sivakarthikeyan’s routine comedy and Soori’s typical comedy one liners which doesn’t work big time. As the film is having the so called romantic portions where hero should woo heroine we should see some colorful songs like Ootha colour Ribbon,Paakathey Paakathey etc., which is testing our patience. Though Imman’s songs are good, the placement goes haywire.
Cinematography by Balasubramaniem is good and gives a beautiful feel on screen. Editing by Vivekh Harshan is technically adequate.Though VVS gives a boring feel director Ponram has created suspense and makes the audience to sit throughout the movie for its climax which shows his brilliance. Being Rajesh’s assistant the comedy should have worked well, had the director spilled the comic essence (which we felt in the climax) throughout the movie the film would have been a better end product.
Watch Varuthapadatha Valibar sangam only for Sathyaraj’s performance and the hilarious climax. Other than that this Sangam doesn’t evoke much laughter….
