The Tamil Nadu Government has lifted the ban issued on Vishwaroopam under section 144 of the Cr. PC on Sunday, 3rd
February 2013. The ban in Chennai was lifted by Police Commissioner, S
George and the Collectors revoked it in their respective districts.
Chief Minister J Jayalalitha in her last statement had said that the ban on the film would be removed if Kamal and the protestors come to a desirable agreement.
As per CM’s request, the two parties met on Saturday and arrived at an amicable decision. To accommodate the requests of the Muslim organizations, Kamal Haasan had also agreed to mute few segments in the film, which is believed to have been done immediately after the meeting.
Now that the Tamil Nadu Thowheedh Jamaath members have also agreed to withdraw all the protests, the film is likely to release this week. However, the police have assured that protection will be provided if necessary.
The release date of the film is expected to be officially announced today and the theater owners have supposedly expressed their eagerness to screen the film from this Friday.
