Vijay’s Thalaivaa has been censored with a U certificate, which means it will lock horns with SRK’s Chennai Express on Aug 9. While most may discard Chennai Express as a Hindi flick, and is likely not going to give Thalaivaa a run for money, they’re absolutely wrong.
Since Chennai Express has a strong south Indian connection, all efforts are being taken by UTV to make it have a big release in Tamil Nadu. One of the actors says that the film has nearly 70% of dialogues in Tamil, and SRK has a special song dedicated to Rajinikanth. All this makes the film a strong contender at the box-office for Thalaivaa.
While Thalaivaa is releasing in over 2000 screens worldwide, including its Telugu version, SRK’s Chennai is releasing in nearly 3000 screens globally and over 100 screens in Tamil Nadu. There were plans to dub the film in Tamil as well, but since most dialogues are in Tamil, the idea was later dropped.
