The 1st schedule of filming began on 2 June 2012 with portions involving Ajith Kumar, Nayantara and Arya. The filming was expected to proceed until the end of the month in Mumbai, but later cancelled due to monsoon and location was shifted to Bangalore and later in Hyderabad. On 7 September, during the second schedule, Taapsee Pannu joined the crew and began shooting her portions. 

 During the next schedule that started on 2 November 2012, filming was held in Mumbai and its suburban locations. While shooting an action sequence, Ajith Kumar was injured, suffering an ligament tear. Despite his injuries, Ajith Kumar continued shooting.

Ajith's Arrambam has turned out to be a box-office success not just in Tamil Nadu but also in overseas markets.

In the USA, Arrambam is now the 5th biggest grosser among all Tamil films, just behind landmark films such as Enthiran (1.6 Million USD), Vishwaroopam (1 Million USD), Sivaji (600,000 USD) and Dasavatharam (500,000 USD). 

As on Saturday, 9th November, Arrambam has grossed 369,150 USD (2.3 crores approx) from reported screens. Arrambam's US gross is higher than other recent biggies such as Thuppakki (364,000 USD), Thalaivaa (260,000 USD) and Singam 2.

In other overseas markets such as UK, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Australia, Arrambam has met with a similar grand welcome from the audiences.

Here, we present to you an update about Arrambam from the Coimbatore territory comprising Coimbatore city, Tiruppur, Erode and Ooty, where Cosmo Pictures is releasing the movie. 
Coimbatore City
About 90% of tickets have been sold out in advance for the first 4 days in the city and the 4 days gross from the city is expected to cross 1 crores. The first day has been completely sold out with even theaters which are set to screen Azhaguraja and Pandianadu accommodating Arrambam on 31st and 1st, in all their shows. About 15 screens in Coimbatore city would be screening Arrambam on the first two days with about 7 screens retaining the movie from 2nd onwards. Even on Diwali day and on 3rd, those theaters screening Azhaguraja and Pandianadu will be holding special shows for Arrambam.
Including Tiruppur, Erode, Ooty and Coimbatore city, Arrambam would be screened in 44 centers from 2nd onwards with the first 2 days seeing a much higher screen count (around 75), thanks to the demand and the early release.
