What is “Prema Oka Maikam” about?
Lalith (Rahul) is an upcoming lyricist. He takes interest in a struggling singer Swathi (Saranya) and helps her indirectly with the songs penned by him. She then becomes a big singer and when he tries to approach, fate has another thoughts for him. He meets with an accident and loses his eyesight. then Vamsi (Rao Ramesh) and a call girl, Mallika (Charmee) helps him. What happens next in his life forms the rest of the story.
How is Charmi?
The makers of the movie had projected this as a heroine oriented movie but Charmee’s character is just about a guest role or slightly more. She appears in the first half an hour and disappears, and finally appears towards the climax. Needless to say there is very little scope for acting or anything of such sort.
How is Chandu’s direction?
Chandu has successfully directed two small movies 10th Class and Notebook, keeping away the merits and demerits of the stories, he did full justice to his role then and they are highly successful. But this movie, Prema Oka Maikam is totally a mishap, bizzare, a disaster. He committed mistakes in all the departments. The characters are very poorly established, the story is bad and the narration is equally bad.
What about Saranya, Rahul, Rao Ramesh and others ?
Happy Days fame Rahul and 10th class fame Saranya are the other prominent characters in the movie. And they have delivered pretty ordinary performance. A senior and good artist like Rao Ramesh is also not used properly.
How is Music, Songs, Dances other departments?
The first song of the movie Baby Baby is good and rest of the songs are par below average. Back ground score is very bad and cinematography is even worse. Senior film journalist Pulagam Chinnarayana is making his debut as dialogue writer in this film and they are not so effective and seem forced.
Highlights?
Nothing. A comedy spoof on RGV is decent.
Drawbacks?
Everything you can think about.
What about its box office prospects?
Needless to say, at the most 2 shows fare.
Did I enjoy it?
No.
Movie Rating: 1.5/5
