M S University suspends student accused of harassing BCom girl

VADODARA: M S University (MSU) on Monday suspended the Faculty of Arts student accused of harassing a girl student on the campus last week. MSU vice-chancellor professor Yogesh Singh also decided to ban Zuber Pathan from entering the campus till the time a university-appointed inquiry committee submits its report.

"The inquiry about the incident has been handed over to university proctor. Based on the inquiry committee's report, the university will decide further action against the student accused of harassment," MSU's officer on special duty (registrar) Amit Dholakia told TOI. He said if the inquiry report suggests stricter action, the university may also rusticate the student.

Zuber, belongs to the infamous Pathan group, which was earlier too found involved in harassment of a female teacher on the campus.

It was on Friday that a girl student, enrolled in the second year of Bachelors of Commerce, had complained that when she was sitting in the canteen of Faculty of Arts, a group of students led by Zuber had started teasing her and passed lewd comments against her.

According to her, after her friend tried to intervene, he was beaten up badly by the group. It was only after university's vigilance squad reached the spot that the group left the premises.
